Former President Trump picked up am endorsement from a key U.S. senator ahead of the Iowa caucus taking place on Monday evening.
Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, became the latest U.S. senator to endorse Trump for president.
“When Trump was in WH I achieved major policies I had worked on for years (like expanded Child Tax Credit & tough sanctions on regime in Cuba & Venezuela) because we had a President who didn’t cave to special interests or let bureaucrats block us,” Rubio posted on his X account. “I support Trump because that kind of leadership is the ONLY way we will get the extraordinary actions needed to fix the disaster Biden has created. It’s time to get on with the work of beating Biden & saving America!”
Trump responded to Rubio's endorsement in a post on Truth Social.
"Thank you to Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott of Florida for the great Endorsements. Nice when both highly respected Republican Florida Senators ENDORSE TRUMP over the missing from Florida Republican Governor, Ron DeSanctimonious! They know something that others don’t," he wrote.
Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., had endorsed Trump in November.
