Trump says he 'could not be more thrilled' with Harris selecting Walz
"This is a shocking pick and I think it's very insulting to Jewish people," Trump says
Former President Trump said he "could not be more thrilled" with Vice President Kamala Harris choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
"I would say my reaction is I can't believe it," Trump said Wednesday on Fox News. "I never thought this was going to be the one that was picked."
Trump described Walz as a "very liberal man" and a "smarter version" of Harris.
"I could not be more thrilled," the former president said of the pick.
"This is a ticket that would want this country to go communist immediately, if not sooner," he added, arguing Walz is more liberal than Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.
Harris passed on Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro and Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly for the job.
Trump reacted to Harris deciding not to choose Shapiro, specifically.
"This is a shocking pick and I think it's very insulting to Jewish people," he said. "This is a really bad decision for the country."
