Trump's endorsement put to test Tuesday in GOP primary for McCarthy's former House seat

The California Republican primary for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's House seat takes place Tuesday between Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux and State Assembly member Vince Fong.

The 20th Congressional District seat a strong Republican House seat so the primary winner is most likely to win the general election.

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump earlier this year endorsed Fong, and the outcome of the race will indication the extent to which Trump has influence over party politics. 

McCarthy has fundraised for Fong, who previously worked on as one of his staffers.
