Trump’s key allies set to take leadership positions Friday in Republican National Committee

Trump presidential campaign adviser Chris LaCivita will serve as RNC chief of staff

The Republican National Committee is expected Friday to install front-running GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s hand-picked leadership team.

The process will take place at the RNC's winter meeting in Houston.

The team includes North Carolina Republican Party leader Michael Whatley as the new national chairman and Lara Trump, the Trump's daughter-in-law, as committee co-chairperson.

Whatley will replace Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, whom Trump installed after he was elected president in 2016. McDaniel  said she will resign after the Super Tuesday primaries, which were three days ago.

Lara Trump is expected to be tasked largely with fundraising and media appearances.

Chris LaCivita, the Associated Press reports, will assume the committee’s chief of staff position. He will also serve as one of Trump’s campaign advisers.

LaCivita is promising to make extensive changes to staffing at the RNC to make sure it runs effectively as an extension of the Trump campaign.
