Vast majority of voters think Democrats have better chance at winning if Biden replaced: CNN poll
According to the poll results, Trump outperforms all of the potential Democratic presidential replacements for Biden, including Newson, Buttigieg and Whitmer
The vast majority of voters, 75%, think Democrats would have a better chance of winning the White House in November if President Biden is not the party's nominee, according to a post-debate CNN poll released on Tuesday that was conducted by SSRS.
Former President Donald Trump is leading Biden by 6 points, 49% to 43%, according to the poll, which CNN said matches the results of their presidential poll from April.
According to the poll results, Vice President Kamala Harris would receive 45% of registered voters support against Trump in a hypothetical match-up and the former president would receive 47%. California Gov. Gavin Newsom would receive 43% compared to 48% for Trump. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, according to the poll results, would get 43% compared to 47% to Trump and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer would receive 42% compared to 47% Trump.
The CNN debate, which took place last Thursday, was the first of the 2024 election cycle. Many Democratic commentators described Biden's performance as a disaster and some called for the party to consider replacing Biden.
