Will Hurd drops out of 2024 presidential race, endorses Nikki Haley
"Our nation deserves a leader who can unite us and navigate the complex challenges we face, particularly when it comes to our national security," Hurd said.
Former Texas GOP Rep. Will Hurd on Monday announced that he is dropping out of the 2024 presidential race as he endorsed Republican candidate Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Hurd also cited the need to "consolidate our party around one person to defeat both Donald Trump and President Biden" in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
His announcement comes 14 weeks after he launched his campaign.
"Our nation deserves a leader who can unite us and navigate the complex challenges we face, particularly when it comes to our national security. I believe Ambassador Nikki Haley is the best person in this race to do that," Hurd said when endorsing Haley, who also previously served as South Carolina governor.
His concerns about national security come after Israel witnessed the largest single-day massacre of Jews since the Holocaust and entered a war in Gaza. More than 900 people in Israel, mostly civilians, have been killed since Hamas terrorists started their invasion Saturday.
