A coalition of 22 state attorneys general is urging President Biden and the Energy Department to end their pause on liquified natural gas exports.

The asked the president in a letter Tuesday in which the coalition argues the administration's decision will hurt the U.S. economy and cut off supplies of energy to allies, which will destabilize the war efforts in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“This administration is going full-throttle on its attack on America’s energy industry just to further Biden’s woke climate change agenda," West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, who is co-leading the coalition, said in a separate statement.

"The Energy Department has no such authority – authority on matters like this lies with Congress and Congress alone.”

The letter warned that a disruption of LNG supplies from the U.S. will give Russia an opportunity to satisfy European demand, which will fund its own war efforts in Ukraine.

“This pause effectively funds Russia’s war in Ukraine and its destabilization efforts in Europe and Asia,” the letter stated.
