Granholm goes to Japan to argue Biden's green agenda will 'help strengthen global energy security'
One of the organizations attending the meeting has deep ties to some of America’s biggest enemies
Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm announced Thursday she was heading to Japan to "advance" Biden’s so-called green agenda and "address how the acceleration of the clean energy transition will help strengthen global energy security."
Japan is hosting the G7 Ministers’ Meeting on Climate, Energy and Environment meeting this weekend in conjunction with the G7 summit.
The website touts the purpose of the global gathering is to “discuss the global promotion of Green Transformation” and to “transform the entire economic, social and industrial structure” to be sustained by renewable energy.
Other member countries set to participate in this weekend’s gathering include Canada, European Union, France, Italy, Germany and the U.K.
The International Renewable Energy Agency is one of several organizations set to attend as well. IRENA describes itself as an "intergovernmental" agency and is partnered with some of America’s biggest adversaries such as Iran, Iraq and China, listing the hostile nations as members on its website.
China effectively has a monopoly on the green energy industry, one the skeptics fear could be weaponized against the United States. Iranians are infamous for their “death to America” protests as Iran’s supreme leader has made clear his wish to see the American experiment collapse.
