Fed cuts rates by a quarter point

The Federal Reserve cut rates by a quarter percent on Wednesday, which is the third consecutive reduction.

The Federal Open Market Committee lowered rates by 25 basis points from 4.5%-4.75% to 4.25%-4.5%.

The Fed signaled that it will likely only lower rates twice during 2025.
