Harris vows to combat inflation, lower costs in economic speech
The speech saw her highlight her record on healthcare costs, namely pointing to her past support for legislation allowing Medicare to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies on the price of prescription drugs.
Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday delivered an economic address in Raleigh, N.C., in which she unveiled her plans to tackle rising prices and other keynote cost-of-living issues.
The speech saw her highlight her record on healthcare costs, namely pointing to her past support for legislation allowing Medicare to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies on the price of prescription drugs.
“And just yesterday, we announced that we are lowering the price by up to 80% for 10 more life saving drugs. And I pledge to continue this progress," she added, referencing a policy that President Joe Biden announced in a joint event with her.
Harris further confirmed reports that the campaign planned to propose a $25,000 subsidy for eligible homebuyers to support down payments.
She also asserted that “[u]nder my plan, more than 100 million Americans will get a tax cut, and we will do this by restoring two tax cuts designed to help middle class and working Americans: the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, through which millions of Americans with children got to keep more of their hard earned income.”
