Florida pharmaceutical company to get new coronavirus, antibody testing to marketplace
Trividia Health is making the test under the FDA's coronavirus emergency rules
Florida-based Trividia Health announced Wednesday that it is ramping production of its new coronavirus test, acknowledged by the Food and Drug Administration, under the agency's emergency COVID-19 rules.
The company describes the test as a “rapid, accurate and simple point-of-care” kit that can detect antibodies against the virus.
The announcement comes as the U.S. and much of the rest of the world enter a second phase in the fight against the pandemic – getting enough adequate testing into populations to further slow the spread of the virus and get people back to work.
Trividia Health says the tests are for health-care professionals and clinical laboratories to administer and yield results within 15 to 20 minutes.
“The test is designed to provide rapid screening that is currently in high demand,” the company said in a press release Wednesday. “These tests are needed to help identify potential patients and asymptomatic carriers to prevent secondary transmission and assure timely treatment measures.”
