RFK Jr. says children in US are sickest in the world, takes shot at 'big food' causing illness
"Don’t you want healthy children? Don’t you want the chemicals out of our food?" Kennedy Jr. asked.
Former Democrat-turned-independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Friday took a shot at "big food," arguing it was making American children sick.
"Our children are now the unhealthiest, sickest children in the world," Kennedy Jr. said during GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's rally in Arizona. "Don’t you want healthy children? Don’t you want the chemicals out of our food? Don’t you want the regulatory agencies to be free from corporate corruption?"
Kennedy Jr. recently suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump. He has been very outspoken about the FDA and food processing companies and argued they profit from making children obese.
"These institutions—these regulatory agencies—are actually run by the big food processing companies, the big ag, and the chemical companies that they’re supposed to regulate," he said.
He later said that a lot of the food Americans are eating has contributed to chronic disease and cancer.
After Kennedy Jr.'s remarks, Trump said if elected, he would establish a panel of experts to work with Kennedy to investigate what is causing an increase in diseases like autoimmune disorders, obesity and infertility.
"We want every child in America to grow up and live a long and healthy life," Trump said.
