Hogan rakes in more than $3 million since launching Senate campaign
Hogan is likely to face either Democratic Rep. David Trone or Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks.
Former Maryland Republican Gov. Larry Hogan has brought in a considerable haul since declaring his Senate campaign earlier this year.
Hogan launched his campaign in February and announced Wednesday that, since then, he has brought in more than $3.1 million, the Washington Times reported.
"In a race where we are likely to face either the billionaire trying to buy the election or the candidate of the Democratic machine, there is no doubt we are the financial underdog too," he said.
Hogan is likely to face either Democratic Rep. David Trone or Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, who are vying for their party's nomination. Alsobrooks raised $2.1 million in the first quarter while Trone has not released his fundraising numbers, per the Times.
Polling data this month has shown Trone with a modest lead in the Democratic primary, while Hogan appears to be ahead of either likely opponent.
Though typically a deep-blue state, Maryland's Senate race is expected to be competitive due largely to Hogan's own popularity.
