Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley gets life in prison without parole

Crumbley's attack saw four students killed, six students wounded, and one teacher also wounded.

Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley on Friday received a life sentence without parole stemming from his violent rampage through the Oxford High School in 2021.

Crumbley's attack saw four students killed, and six students and one teacher wounded. He pleaded guilty in 2022 to charges of terrorism causing death, four counts of first-degree murder, and 19 other charges, CNN reported.

Among the dead were Tate Myre, 16, Hana St. Juliana, 14, Justin Shilling, 17, and Madisyn Baldwin, 17. Baldwin's mother opened the hearing with a victim impact statement, recalling her feelings upon seeing her daughter dead.

Prior to his sentencing, Crumbley expressed remorse for his actions, saying "I am a really bad person. I have done terrible things that no one should ever do."

The sentence makes Crumbley the first minor to receive such a punishment since a 2012 Supreme Court decision ruling that issuing life in prison without parole to a minor should be a rare occurrence.
