Several musical artists who were set to participate in an event commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. have either denied plans to perform or withdrawn from the event.

Freedom 250 announced its lineup for the "Great American State Fair" this week, which is set to feature numerous musical acts over several days. Among those featured in a promotional image were Martina McBride, Young MC, C+C Music Factory, Vanilla Ice, Milli Vanilli, The Commodores, Morris Day & The Time, Flo Rida, and Bret Michaels.

But Young MC, Morris Day & The Time, and C+C Music Factory all separately confirmed that they would not participate in the event, The Hill reported.

Young MC and C+C Music Factory both indicated that they were concerned about the event's political affiliation. Though America 250 celebrations are meant to be non-partisan, they are closely associated with the Trump administration's efforts to mark the anniversary.

Morris Day, meanwhile, referred to the billing as a "rumor" and denied plans to participate outright.
