Musk plans to shut down Twitter's Seattle office as he seeks to cut platform's expenses
His closure of the Seattle office and mass layoffs have stemmed from concerns that the platform cannot keep up with its expenses.
Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced plans to close the platform's Seattle office and will allow its employees to work from home as part of the cost-cutting measures the Tesla founder has implemented to put the social media platform on a stronger financial footing.
Musk has reportedly already stopped paying rent at the Seattle office. His downsizing will leave the platform with physical locations only in San Francisco and New York, according to the Washington Examiner.
The new head of the company in November began mass layoffs in November, ultimately cutting more than half of the entire workforce. He has also toyed with the idea of expanding operations in Texas as lawmakers have invited him to bring the company's headquarters to the Lone Star State.
The Tesla and Twitter leader has already moved to Texas himself and has expanded operations of his electric vehicle company in the state.
His closure of the Seattle office and mass layoffs have stemmed from concerns that the platform cannot keep up with its expenses. To that end, Musk has introduced a paid subscription service, Twitter Blue, to help the company stabilize its revenue.
