Democratic Michigan Rep. Elissa Slotkin and former GOP Rep. Mike Rogers are tied in a critical Michigan Senate race as of Wednesday, according to a new poll that was released the day after their sole debate.
The poll, conducted by Quinnipiac University, found both candidates tied with 48% of support each. The poll shows a narrowing in the race in the final weeks before the November election.
Republicans are hoping to flip the Senate, and Michigan is a possible pick up with Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow retiring. Other key swing seats include Ohio's race between Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican Bernie Moreno, and Montana's race between incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Tester and Republican Tim Sheehy.
The poll on Wednesday revealed that the overwhelming majority (98%) of Democrats support Slotkin, while 92% of Republicans support Rogers. Independents were split evenly. The survey also showed that the presidential race remains tight in Michigan with former President Donald Trump narrowly leading Vice President Kamala Harris in a 50-47% split.
The poll was conducted between Oct. 3 and Oct. 9 and polled 1,007 likely voters. It has a 3.1% margin of error.
