GOP Rep. Jordan blasts the movement to defund police
During an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast Jordan also said that ex FBI Director James Comey needs to be scrutinized during U.S. Attorney John Durham's investigation
Rep. Jim Jordan during an interview on the John Solomon Reports podcast decried the defund the police movement that has recently risen to national prominence following the death of George Floyd.
"Americans know that defunding the police is one of the most ridiculous, crazy policies they have ever seen," Jordan said.
The Ohio Republican has been an outspoken critic of the movement.
He said that Americans grasp the importance of justice for George Floyd's family, the distinction between peaceful protest and lawless violence, murder and looting, and the concept that "police officers are great Americans who risk their lives every single shift they serve."
"Those four principles should guide what we do and the policy we form as we move forward," Jordan said.
The congressman, who serves as the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, said that he believes former FBI Director James Comey should be scrutinized during U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham's investigation of the federal government's Russia-Trump campaign collusion investigation.
"So Jim Comey is the central figure, and I hope he's the one they continue to look at in this investigation," Jordan said.
During the interview Jordan also discussed the issue of media bias, describing the "mainstream press" as "one in the same with the Democrat Party."
