Trump on FSU playoffs snub: 'Let's blame DeSanctimonious'
The committee's decision rendered FSU the first undefeated Power Five conference team not to make the playoffs since the existing system's inception.
Former President Donald Trump on Monday blamed Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis for the College Football Playoff Selection Committee choosing to keep Florida State University out of the playoffs, even though the team has gone undefeated all season.
The committee's decision rendered FSU the first undefeated Power Five conference team not to make the playoffs since the existing system's inception, a move the panel attributed to the injury of starting quarterback Jordan Travis, according to The Hill.
"Florida State was treated very badly by the 'Committee.' They become the first Power Five team to be left out of the College Football Playoffs. Really bad lobbying effort...Lets blame DeSanctimonious!!!" Trump posted on Truth Social, using his preferred nickname for his primary rival.
The Universities of Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama will participate in the finals. Michigan will play Alabama, while Washington will play Texas.
Travis, for his part, posted on X that he was "devastated. heartbroken. In so much disbelief rn, I wish my leg broke earlier in the season so y’all could see this team is much more than the quarterback. I thought results matter. 13-0 and this roster matches up across any team in those top 4 rankings. I am so sorry. Go Noles!"
