Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin soars to 57% approval rating: poll
Youngkin has managed to defy political trends in the state since his victory over former Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe in 2021.
Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin's constituents have increasingly adopted a favorable opinion of him, with 57% of Old Dominion voters backing his job performance.
Just 32% held a negative view of the Republican governor in the latest Morning Consult survey, earning him a net 25% favorability, a considerable feat given his narrow electoral victory in 2021 that handed him the governor's mansion.
Youngkin has managed to defy political trends in the state since his victory over former Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe in 2021. The state has generally trended in favor of Democrats since McAuliffe originally won the office in 2013.
The state has two Democratic Senators and a majority Democratic House delegation. It has not backed a Republican for president since George W. Bush in 2004.
Youngkin's surging popularity in a Democrat-leaning state has fueled speculation that he may mount a presidential bid, though he has thus far not entered the race.
The survey questioned 8,123 registered voters and has a margin of error of +/- 1%.
