Colleges set to have option to hide student’s race and ethnicity on application platform

Starting on August 1, U.S. colleges that allow students to apply for admission through Common App will have the option to hide information about an applicant’s race and ethnicity. With the online application in use at over 1,000 colleges across the country, critics say the move will reduce the number of Black and Hispanic people in higher education.
