Cuomo to Trump: Don't 'bait' me

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said Monday that now is not the time for political games, following remarks President Trump made about "running against Andrew,” as the incumbent Republican president criticized Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden.
“I'm not going to get into a political dispute with the president,” Cuomo said at his daily briefing. “I'm not going to rise to the bait of a political challenge.”
Cuomo’s comments came hours after Trump said during an interview on “Fox & Friends” that he “wouldn’t mind running against Andrew,” as the incumbent Republican president criticized Democratic presidential candidate former Vice President Joe Biden.
In the interview, Trump also took credit for Cuomo's boosted approval rating — 87%, according to a new Siena poll, saying, "one of the reasons he's successful is because we've helped make him successful."
"I said to the president quiteclearly, look, when you do goodthings for my state and you'rea good partner, I will be thefirst one to say you're agood partner —and I have," said Cuomo. "I went to the ship Comfort todayand I said, "Thank you Mr.President."We opened up this Javits Center,I said thank you to the Army. They did a great job here, the Army Corps of Engineers. When you help my state, I willsay thank you.If I believe that New York is notbeing served, the federallegislation that they passed, Iwill say that, too, you know?Sometimes it's simple.Just tell the truth, right?"
