David Walker advocates for a fiscal responsibility amendment to cap the national debt

"What the amendment would likely do would place a credit card limit on the United States based on a percentage of debt as a percentage of the economy... with targets, triggers, and automatic enforcement mechanisms."

Former Comptroller General of the United States, David Walker, proposes that any politician who willfully votes to breach the legally defined debt-to-GDP cap would be constitutionally barred from running for re-election.
