FAA issues “Aviation Safety Call to Action” in wake of runway close calls

Following an emergency FAA Safety Summit, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued an industrywide alert calling on all airlines to “reinforce adherence to published processes and procedures.” In 2023, there have been seven close calls on major U.S. airport runways.
