Father of Parkland victim slams Scot Peterson verdict as ‘another failure’
Manuel Oliver, father of Parkland school shooting victim Joaquin Oliver, criticized the verdict reached by a Florida jury Thursday that found former school resource officer Scot Peterson not guilty on all counts for his actions during the 2018 school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Oliver accused Peterson of signing up for the job and failing to “deliver” on protecting the students. Prosecutors and several Parkland parents accused Peterson of ignoring his training and failing to confront the gunman who killed 17 people, including 14 students.
