Canada expels Indian diplomats, accusing Indian government of violence against dissidents
Tensions between the two countries began to deteriorate last year after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government of involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian citizen and Sikh separatist leader who India had labeled a terrorist.
The Canadian government on Monday expelled six Indian diplomats and Indiana India expelled the same amount of Canadian diplomats in response to the move.
Canada's government has alleged that the Indian government has engaged in violence, spying and indimidation against dissidents inside Canada.

On Monday, Trudeau said he has "clear and compelling evidence that agents of the government of India have engaged in and continue to engage in activities that pose a significant threat to public safety," including "clandestine information gathering techniques, coercive behavior targeting South Asian Canadians, and involvement in over a dozen threatening and violent acts, including murder."
