King Charles attends Easter service in most notable public appearance since cancer diagnosis

King Charles III attended the traditional Easter Sunday church service in Windsor, marking his most notable public appearance since Buckingham Palace announced his cancer diagnosis last month.

Charles, 75, appeared alongside his wife, Queen Camilla, at St. George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and the couple waved to a small crowd of well-wishers before entering the church, according to CNN.

"Happy Easter," one member of the public called out to the couple, to which the king responded, "And to you."

The royal couple sat separately from the main congregation during the service to minimize contact with others as he is treated for cancer. The king's extended family also attended the services.

Retired air stewardess Anne Daley said she traveled three hours from Wales via train and then she waited several hours outside St. George's to see the King and show him her support.

"He looked wonderful. He smiled at me and had a little laugh, loved the Welsh flag," she said.

The king was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer last month following treatment for prostate issues.
