Three killed in Copenhagen mall shooting, suspect arrested

Police cannot rule out that the shooting was an "act of terrorism," while conservatives pointed out that the incident occurred in a country with stringent gun restrictions

Three people are dead and three others are critically wounded after a gunman opened fire on Sunday inside a packed shopping mall in the Danish capital of Copenhagen on Sunday, officials stated.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection to the incident, Copenhagen police inspector Søren Thomassen told reporters, explaining that authorities do not believe anyone else was involved but an investigation is ongoing.

Police remain unsure of the motive but said they cannot rule out that it was an "act of terrorism," the BBC reported.

Officials have not formally announced the exact number of people killed or wounded.

Conservatives responded online to the shooting by pointing out Denmark's stringent gun restrictions.

"A shooting at a mall in Copenhagen, where guns are practically impossible to own for the general public, disproves every single Leftist talking point on guns," tweeted Irene Armendariz-Jackson, a Texas Republican congressional candidate.

"Praying for the people of Copenhagen, Denmark," Florida Republican congressional candidate Dr. Willie J. Montague tweeted. "Also praying the Left wakes up and realizes that mass shootings are not prevented by gun laws. Denmark makes it nearly impossible to get a gun, yet a mass shooting just happened there."
