Flash floods in Nepal on Wednesday morning killed at least 22 people and left hundreds of others missing.

The massive flooding on the Bhotekoshi River, also caused widespread damage to villages and infrastructure, according to the Associated Press.

Roughly 380 tourists, including 291 from countries such as India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Malaysia were reported missing. The flooding occurred along Nepal's border with China.

“We have asked both India and China to help us with the rescue efforts,” said Sasmit Pokharel, a spokesperson for the Nepali government, the wire services also reports.

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake reportedly occurred before the flooding.
