Former Trump advisor says Biden's handling of Gaza war has fractured US relationship with Israel
"The president apparently hasn't talked to Prime Minister Netanyahu in close to a month while the shooting war is going on in which Americans are being held hostage," Coates said.
Former Trump advisor Victoria Coates said that President Joe Biden's handling of the war in Gaza has caused a fracture in the U.S. and Israel's relationship.
"The U.S.-Israel relationship is decades and decades old. The security partnership, while not particularly well understood, is vitally important to both of our countries," Coates said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "What we saw on October 7, was that partnership breaking down. There should never be that kind of joint intelligence failure between the U.S. and Israel, which is a partnership that should be keeping our citizens of both countries safe."
Israel has been at war with Hamas in Gaza ever since the terrorist organization launched a surprise attack on Oct. 7, resulting in the deaths of roughly 1,200 people.
A poll that was conducted last month showed a majority of registered voters disapprove of Biden's handling of the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
The New York Times-Siena College poll found 57% of those surveyed disapprove, while 33% approve.
Critics of the Biden administration's foreign policy on the matter say the president could do more publicly to get the Israeli government to limit casualties, or risk losing international support.
"The president apparently hasn't talked to Prime Minister Netanyahu in close to a month while a shooting war is going on in which Americans are being held hostage," Coates said. "Americans were killed, obviously, in the original attacks. So, this is really, really a bad state of affairs."
