In a significant blow to Houthi leadership in Yemen, Israeli airstrikes on Thursday in Sanaa led to the death of Ahmed al-Rahawi, the self-proclaimed prime minister of the Houthi government, as well as several senior ministers, the group said on Saturday. 

The Israeli military said the strike was aimed at those allegedly involved in "terror actions" against Israel. 

According to Reuters, Al-Rahawi, who served as the Houthi prime minister since August of last year, was killed while attending a workshop that other high-ranking officials were attending as well. 

Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ahmed Miftah has been appointed to replace Al-Rahaw.
