Suspected U.S. airstrikes around Yemen's capital overnight into Monday morning killed at least three people, according to the Houthi rebels.

The Iranian-backed rebels say 12 other people were injured in the strikes, according to The Associated Press.

The Houthis are one of the main combatants in the ongoing Yemeni civil war and have disrupted shipping in the Red Sea amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.

President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, earlier this month.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that multiple Houthi leaders were killed in that strike.
