Trump said U.S. could 'just take' all Iran's oil as Tehran threatens escalation if attacked
Trump disputed that Iran has any power left. In his remarks Friday, he said that their economy is faltering with inflation over 300%.
President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that "Iran is not able to do much now" as a result of pressure from U.S. military and economic actions.
"We could if we wanted to, just take all of the oil, we can take the whole country. We can take all of the oil. And as you know, the Hormuz Strait is totally ours. And that's the way we'll keep it," Trump said, Fox News reported.
Iran, meanwhile, is threatening that if the U.S. and Israel resume their air campaign against the country, Tehran will strike American bases and warships. It will also target airports, pipelines and other civilian targets against American allies bordering Iran, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The warnings came from public and private diplomatic communications, according to the Journal, and with Iran holding significant missile and drone stocks, the threats have some weight behind them.
Trump, however, disputed that the country has any power left. In his remarks Friday, he said that their economy is faltering with inflation over 300%.
"That's the highest in the world right now," he said.
Trump also claimed that there would be more oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz than before the war.
