Trump’s incoming Middle East envoy visited Israel, Qatar to discuss reaching ceasefire in Gaza
Witkoff met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the report said, noting that the official spoke on condition of anonymity.
President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, visited Israel and Qatar to discuss reaching a ceasefire and hostage agreement in Gaza, according to a U.S. official cited in a report from the Associated Press on Thursday.
Witkoff met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the report said, noting that the U.S. official spoke on the condition of anonymity when confirming the meetings occurred.
The official reportedly confirmed the parties involved have made progress toward a ceasefire agreement but that there aren't any plans for President Biden's senior adviser Brett McGurk to return to the Middle East before the Trump administration begins.
