CBS News on Friday announced the end of CBS News Radio, a part of an effort to remake the news division that also included laying off 6% of staffers. 

“Today, we informed our team and approximately 700 affiliated stations that we will end the service on May 22, 2026," new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and president Tom Cibrowski wrote in a memo obtained by Deadline.

The TV network made cuts late last year to the broadcast news division, now owned by Paramount Skydance.

Weiss, a former New York Times writer, was hired in October 2025.

"Today we are reducing the size of our workforce," Weiss and Cibrowski said in a memo to staffers Friday morning obtained by Business Insider. "It's no secret that the news business is changing radically, and that we need to change along with it," they wrote.
