CNN's Allison Gollust resigns two weeks after Jeff Zucker ousted
When Zucker resigned, Gollust acknowledged a relationship, but said she planned on staying with the company.
CNN executive Allison Gollust resigned Tuesday after an investigation revealed she had violated the outlet's policies, following an investigation into former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) and his brother, former news host Chris Cuomo, CNN confirmed.
Her resignation comes less than two weeks after CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker resigned over not disclosing his consensual relationship with Gollust, whom he described as "my closest colleague."
Gollust, CNN's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, acknowledged the relationship but said she planned on staying with the company after Zucker resigned.
WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar sent a memo to staffers Tuesday evening stating that Gollust had resigned.
"Based on interviews of more than 40 individuals and a review of over 100,000 texts and emails, the investigation found violations of Company policies, including CNN's News Standards and Practices, by Jeff Zucker, Allison Gollust, and Chris Cuomo," Kilar wrote, according to CNN.
Gollust criticized the company in a statement after she resigned.
"WarnerMedia's statement tonight is an attempt to retaliate against me and change the media narrative in the wake of their disastrous handling of the last two weeks," she said, the outlet reports.
"It is deeply disappointing that after spending the past nine years defending and upholding CNN's highest standards of journalistic integrity, I would be treated this way as I leave," she lamented. "But I do so with my head held high, knowing that I gave my heart and soul to working with the finest journalists in the world."
Chris Cuomo was fired in December after the network conducted an investigation into his support of his brother following sexual assault allegations.
