Star podcaster retains massive audience while facing backlash for alleged COVID "misinformation."
Joe Rogan, host of the most popular podcast in America, defended himself on Sunday amid allegations that he's spreading "misinformation" about COVID-19.
The star podcaster also said he'll "try harder to get people with differing opinions" on his show, which reaches an estimated 11 million listeners per episode.
Rogan has had medical experts on his show as guests who've questioned the efficacy of masks and vaccines to combat COVID-19.
"I'm not trying to be controversial," Rogan said in a 10-minute video posted to Instagram. "I've never tried to do anything with this podcast other than just talk to people and have interesting conversations."
Rogan has often said he's not an authoritative source of medical or journalistic information, yet an increasing number of American are turning to the podcaster over the mainstream, corporate media, whose ratings continue to dwindle.
This trend has coincided with the public losing trust in the media, according to polling.
On the surface, it appears a large segment of the American people may trust Rogan — and other forms of alternative media — over the traditional mainstream media.
