Professional Golfers' Association golfer Grayson Murray passed away at age 30 shortly after he withdrew from a tournament he was playing in this weekend.
Murray withdrew from the tournament due to an illness, according to Fox News.
"We were devastated to learn — and are heartbroken to share — that PGA TOUR player Grayson Murray passed away this morning. I am at a loss for words," PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan wrote in a statement posted on social media.
Monahan added that the tour had reached out to Murray's parents and offered their condolences.
"They asked that we continue with tournament play," Monahan said, referencing Murray's parents. "They were adamant that Grayson would want us to do so. As difficult as it will be, we want to respect their wishes."
Murray was the 58th-ranked player in the world and won the Sony Open in Hawaii this year.
