Democrat congressman says he was assaulted at Sundance Film Festival event
"He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay," Frost wrote.
A U.S. lawmaker revealed that he was physically assaulted late Friday night while attending a private event during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Rep. Maxwell Alejandro Frost, D-Fla., 29, who represents Florida’s 10th Congressional District, said in a post on X on Saturday that he was punched in the face by a man who made racially charged comments moments before the attack.
According to Frost’s account and multiple press reports, the assailant told him that former President Donald Trump would “deport” him before hitting him, and was heard shouting racist remarks as he ran away.
"He was heard screaming racist remarks as he drunkenly ran off. The individual was arrested and I am okay," Frost wrote.
"Thank you to the venue security and Park City PD for assistance on this incident," he added.
The alleged incident occurred at a private party hosted by talent agency CAA at the High West Saloon.
Variety reported that the suspect was not on the guest list and had forced his way into the event shortly before the assault.
