Fetterman claims Democrats are ruled by Trump Derangement Syndrome
The Pennsylvanian said one example of "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is the reaction to the conflict raging in the Middle East, dubbed "Operation Epic Fury." The U.S. helped Israel strike Iran late last month, which has prompted pushback from Democrats.
Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman said Wednesday that he believes his party lacks a real leader and is instead ruled by a hatred of President Donald Trump.
The senator, who has crossed party lines multiple times in the upper chamber to vote with Republicans, was asked who he believed is the leader of the Democrats as the country gears up for the 2026 midterm elections in November.
“Oh, we don’t, we don’t have one. I think, I think the [Trump Derangement Syndrome] that — I think that’s the leader right now," Fetterman told "All-in" podcast host David Friedberg. "You know, right now our party is governed by the TDS, and now it’s made it virtually impossible, without being punished, as a Democrat, to agree something’s good, or ‘I agree with the other side.'"
The Pennsylvanian said one example of "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is the reaction to the conflict raging in the Middle East, dubbed "Operation Epic Fury." The U.S. allied with Israel to strike Iran late last month, which has prompted pushback from Democrats.
“I am literally the only Democrat in America, in Congress, that I’ve come across that’s saying, ‘I think it’s a great thing to break and destroy the Iranian regime,’” Fetterman said.
The senator also claimed that Trump could "come out for ice cream and lazy Sundays and now, suddenly, Democrats would hate it. We would wanna vote it down."
The question of who is leading the Democratic Party surfaced after Trump beat former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. No clear leader has emerged since. Trump is the driving force behind Republicans.
