Marjorie Taylor Greene lobbies to be impeachment manager against Mayorkas
"I am serious about this, and the only reason I am so serious about it is because Americans are dying every single day," Greene said.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., says she wants to be an impeachment manager as the House of Representatives attempts to impeach U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
"I told them I would work with them in order to impeach Secretary Mayorkas through the committee," Greene said in reference to her colleagues on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "I also want to be an impeachment manager when we take it to the Senate."
An impeachment manager serves as a prosecutor when presenting the case to the Senate.
The House Homeland Security Committee will hold its first impeachment hearing against on Jan. 10, the committee's chairman Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., announced on Wednesday.
After the committee finished its investigation in December, Green said House Republicans have enough evidence to impeach Mayorkas, according to Punchbowl News.
"I am serious about this, and the only reason I am so serious about it is because Americans are dying every single day," Greene said.
She said that this issue is personal to her because two of her constituents in Georgia died in a car accident because of a teenager smuggling illegal immigrants into the country.
"Just a couple of months ago, there were two of my constituents from my district that were killed by a 17-year-old that was trafficking illegal aliens into Texas," Greene explained. "These were innocent Americans that were killed in a horrific car wreck from this young man smuggling illegals into the country."
The Homeland Security Department revealed last month that the backlog of illegal aliens inside the U.S. has nearly doubled under Biden to over six million while arrests of suspected terrorists and violent offenders have also exploded.
