Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, got rid of the words "women" and "woman" in legislation that discusses insurance for pregnant women.

Brown introduced the "Healthy Maternity and Obstetric Medicine Act" in 2015, which used the word "women" in it 22 times, according to Fox News.

The word "maternity" was also mentioned 19 times.

In the updated 2023 version, all references to "woman" or "women" were scrubbed from the bill.

"Maternity" was mentioned just four times.

In the updated legislation, the words "pregnant person" and "pregnant individual" are used.

The bill has been co-sponsored by other Democratic officials such as Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wisc., and Sen. Robert Casey, D-Pa.
