House Oversight Chairman Comer requests Secret Service briefing on cocaine found in the White House

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer on Friday requested a briefing and more details from the Secret Service about the cocaine that was recently found in the White House.

"The presence of illegal drugs in the White House is unacceptable and a shameful moment in the White House’s history," the Kentucky Republican tweeted.

"Congress funds White House security procedures & @GOPoversight has oversight jurisdiction over Secret Service operations," he also wrote in the post. "I’m requesting a briefing."

Cocaine was found Sunday in the White House, which resulted in an evacuation of the premises. 

The initial dispatch call said the substance was discovered in the library, but officials later told the New York Post that it was found in a cubby used by White House staff and guests to store phones and personal items that are not brought into parts of the West Wing.

It remains unknown to whom the substance belonged or how it arrived at the premises.
