Pelosi not backing down from infrastructure bill vote: 'We're on a path to win the vote'

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday her Democrat-majority chamber is proceeding with a vote on the bipartisan, $1 trillion Senate infrastructure bill.

"I do not plan on not doing anything. I plan on moving forward in a positive way and everybody has to think this is the path we're on," the California Democrat said at a news briefing. "Our best interest is served by passing this bill today."

Pelosi also express her commitment to its immediate passage.

"We're on a path to win the vote and I don't want to even consider any options other than that," she said. "That's our culture. ... We go in it to win it."

House Progressive Caucus members have said they will vote against the infrastructure bill if the $3.5 trillion filibuster-proof budget reconciliation bill isn't passed first.

Moderate House Democrats have been advocating for passage of the bipartisan Senate infrastructure bill first.

To pass the reconciliation bill framework in August with the support of moderate Democrats, Pelosi had agreed to hold a vote on the Senate infrastructure bill by Sept 27, three days ago.
