Trump says after Senate GOP meeting 'great unity' but still disagreement on how to pass his bill

President-elect Trump told reporters on Wednesday night after meeting with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill that there is "great unity" among the GOP in their effort to pass his agenda on taxes, energy and border security in one or two filibuster-proof bills.

The GOP is planning to use budget reconciliation to pass the legislation. The legislative tool has been used by both parties in the past to avoid the filibuster.

“We had a great meeting. There’s great unity. Whether it’s one bill or two bills, it’s going to get done one way or the other,” the president-elect said Wednesday. on Capitol Hill. “I think there’s a lot of talk about two, and there’s a lot of talk about one, but it doesn’t matter. The end result is the same.” 

Trump formally takes office on Monday, Jan. 20. The new Congress began on Jan. 3.
