Wasserman Schultz on Trump mocking Biden’s gaffes: ‘Of course’ Biden has fitness for office
Responding to Trump poking fun at Biden’s gaffes, Wasserman Schultz said, ‘Don’t talk to me about gaffes'
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Thursday that President Trump shouldn’t be making an issue out of former Vice President Joe Biden’s gaffes on the campaign trail – after his coronavirus Oval Office address on Wednesday evening.
“Last night he made a mistake reading from the teleprompter on his own travel-ban policy related to coronavirus and told American citizens that they were not going to be allowed back in the country when that wasn’t accurate,” the Florida Democrat said on Capitol Hill. “So don’t talk to me about gaffes."
Trump has mocked Biden for gaffes including misstating the number of gun deaths in the U.S. and mixing up states where he's speaking on the campaign trail.
When asked if she thinks Biden has the fitness for office, Wasserman Schultz replied, “Yes, of course I do.”
Congress is now debating a coronavirus aid package. Wasserman Schultz was asked what she wants included in the relief legislation for coronavirus.
“Making sure that people have paid family leave and paid sick leave,” she said.
