Former Biden staffer charged with killing woman, pleads not guilty to manslaughter

A former White House security staffer who worked during the administration of former President Joe Biden has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in San Francisco, according to police and multiple media reports.

Nation Wood, 25, was taken into custody on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter after a woman was shot inside a residence earlier this week. Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Samantha Emge, 

She was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a hospital where she later died.

Wood was allegedly handling a firearm inside the home when the shooing occured. According to reporting cited by local media, the gun discharged and a bullet traveled through a wall, hitting Emge in another room.

Wood, who previously worked as an advance or security staffer in the Biden administration, had more recently been working independently in the security field, according to reports.

He has since appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charge. A judge set bail at $300,000, along with conditions including electronic monitoring and surrendering his passport and any firearms.
