Attorneys for hip-hop mogul Jay-Z on Monday asked a judge to reject his rape accuser's request to remain anonymous, unless she agreed to dismiss the case instead.

A woman who has been solely identified as "Jane Doe" amended a federal lawsuit on Sunday that accused Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, and fellow rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs of raping her when she was a minor in 2000.

Jay-Z's lawyer Alex Spiro claimed that the request to remain anonymous was "inconsistent with a genuine effort to determine the truth or falsity of these allegations," and asked the judge to reject the request or dismiss the case, per NBC News.

“It is not consistent with justice, fairness or the rules governing federal proceedings for the Plaintiff and her counsel to smear Defendant’s good name in ways that are calculated to feed media coverage and thus inflict maximum public relations damage while the core fact of Plaintiff’s identity … remains wholly hidden from view,” Spiro added.

The accuser alleged that the assault occurred when she was 13, after she was driven to an MTV Video Music Awards after-party. She claimed that both Combs and Jay-Z were present for the rape, which took place after she had a drink at the party and went to lay down. The accuser further claimed a female celebrity was also present for the assault, but has not identified the woman.

Jay-Z and Combs have both denied the allegations.

"These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one," Carter said in a statement to NBC News. "Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

The U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York has charged Combs with racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution, after he was arrested in Manhattan in September.
