Judge orders Elon Musk to testify in SEC probe of Twitter purchase
The decision is another legal loss for Musk, who in late January saw a Delaware judge reject his $55 billion compensation package with Tesla as part of a shareholder lawsuit.
Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler ordered on Saturday that Elon Musk testify in an ongoing probe of his purchase of Twitter, now X, by the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Musk purchased Twitter in October of 2022 and later rebranded the company as "X." The SEC has not alleged wrongdoing against Musk, but is looking into the circumstances of the purchase, which he had attempted to abandon partway through negotiations, The Hill reported.
Beeler gave Musk one week to agree to a date for the deposition with the SEC. He had previously declined to testify in the probe.
