Jury convicts 'Rust' armorer of involuntary manslaughter over on-set shooting

A jury on Wednesday convicted Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the armorer for 'Rust', of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
The jury did acquit her, however, of tampering with evidence, NBC News reported. She faces up to three years in prison. Though she has not been sentenced, Gutierrez-Reed will remain in custody on the order of Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer.
"The reason why I'm going to remand you is you are now convicted, and this is a death. It's criminal negligence, but it's still a death," she said.

The actor pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in January. He has previously settled a civil suit with Matthew Hutchins, Halyna's widower, in which they agreed to complete filming. "Rust" has not been released to the public.
"All of us believe Halyna's death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community have come together to pay tribute to Halyna's final work," Hutchins said at the time.
